My brother came across this letter my grandmother had written when she gave him her hand-made Lego bag in 1978.

So folks, this is where it all started for me. My grandmother was a true inspiration to me in so many ways. She too, had a love for design that was woven throughout her life in so many ways. Frequently throughout the year, I will take random photos of my kid’s “stuff” in their room. I want to capture images of what their little world was like, too besides just the regular “here is my brother and me on our first day of school” pics. Their treasures and collectables seem so important to them and how they rearrange it amongst their room. I find it quite interesting and beautiful how they choose to display their rocks, toys, cars, art projects, sticks, Lego, etc. and that it is ever changing with their age. “The beast” of all this is that we are constantly purging and trying to get rid of that stuff that eventually becomes not so coveted. At one point, my son wanted to keep every singe piece of used gum wrapper. That was about a three-month phase!
